Road SH41 is Noth South connecting Rajapalayam and Thirunelveli and Road SH76 is East West connecting Puliankudi and Kovilpatti. The town is part of Tirunelveli Kattabomman district. It is the capital of Sankarankovil taluk. The town has other names like SNKL, Sangai.
